Hospital donation tops £120,000

Local recycling charity Cans For Kids handed over another £5,000 worth of medical equipment to the Makarios Hospital children’s wards on Wednesday, bringing the total value of equipment donated to date to over £120,000.

Acting Health Minister Andreas Christou received the seven syringe pumps, which are destined for the post-intensive care ward, from Cans For Kids President Olga Demetriades.

Mrs Demetriades thanked the public for their support, “to have raised £120,000 from recycling aluminium cans, which are worth about half a cent each, is no mean feat” she said, and asked everyone to remember to save their cans over the holidays and take them to their nearest Cans For Kids can bank.

Can bank locations are listed on the Cans For Kids website (check Collection Points)
