Great news! The CansForKids app helps you find your nearest can bank, wherever you are.

The most common questions we get on our facebook page are along the lines of: Where can I drop off my aluminium cans? Is there a can bank near me?

Of course, we are always happy to direct supporters to our website with the list of all our collection points, but now we can give them an even better answer… a link to our new app for android phones. The CansForKids app will not only show you where all our can banks are located, but it will also give you directions on how to get there!

The app, which was kindly developed by a team of students at the University of Cyprus and is hosted on the university’s server as a much appreciated service to our charity, is available in the PlayStore and can be downloaded free of charge. Alternatively, click on https://bit.ly/33fJnax to go directly to the app and download it on your phone.

As soon as you open the app, you will see a button reading ‘FIND YOUR NEAREST COLLECTION POINT’. Click on that, and you will see all the locations on the map of Cyprus. Your current location is pinpointed by the blue dot.

Use your fingers to zoom in to your area, then tap the pin that you believe is closest to you, and you will see the tag of that location. In the lower right-hand corner of the screen you will find two icons: a google maps icon that will zoom in to the location, and an arrow that will give you step by step directions to that particular collection point.

Also on the app are our contact details, listed under the three vertical points in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

We hope our new app will make it easier for you to collect your cans for us, wherever you are in Cyprus. So please, spread the word, and encourage others to download and use the app, so we can make sure that no can goes into the trash.

Sincere thanks to the UCY students who developed the CansForKids app, and the department of Computer Science for their generous support.
