Wamiq Naseer first volunteered for Cans For Kids when he was a student in 2004. On his return to Cyprus in 2017 to study for a Masters degree he contacted us again and volunteered his Saturday mornings for can sorting. He has rarely missed a session. After receiving his award and 100 euros he immediately said he would donate the prize money to Cans For Kids – we declined, so he found another way to make the money useful. Afterwards, he had this to say “I am honoured to receive the volunteer of the year 2017 award along with a cash prize. I am really thankful to Cans For Kids for keeping my soul alive by giving me a platform. Every Saturday we spend 2 hours in cans sorting, have fun time, and purify our soul. For me it’s a meditation and a satisfaction that I repay my share to society & to mother Earth. Really thankful to Cans For Kids, and other great dedicated volunteers. And in the last special thanks to lifetime volunteer titleholder Rosie Charalambous for her help and support.
I donate the money I receive to a poor but a brilliant 10yo disabled girl back in Pakistan who is going through ostomy implant procedure. Now I believe Cans For Kids is not only helping the kids in Cyprus but also in Pakistan.”
