After a successful Earth Day celebration last week, we were back at the Cans For Kids Recycling Centre again on May 2nd, hosting volunteers from the World Ventures Foundation.
Four Hungarians, two Americans, two Chinese and two Czechs came to Cyprus on a ‘Voluntour’. They were joined by an army of Cypriot WV Foundation volunteers who descended on us at 10am saying “tell us what you want us to do”. The majority sorted cans, but one or two were tasked with removing the tops of aerosol cans, or separating the ferrous wick base from aluminium candle holders. Some painted can banks, and others weeded the area and planted some ground cover.
By the time they left, the place was spotless! Not a single can remained un-sorted – a feat we haven’t achieved for many years! A good time was had by all – and we are looking forward to seeing the Cyprus contingent again: they have offered to get a team together intermittently to give us a hand. Thank you all!
